New Testament Survey – Taught by Jordan Kalm
New Testament Survey introduces students to the culture, context, and content of each book in the New Testament. The goal of this NT Survey class is to see God’s “big picture”; looking at how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is was and is fulfilled. The class is designed for you to profit even if you get just a few weeks here and there. But it’s also designed so that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts as we delve into the major characters, teachings, and structure of the books that make up the New Testament. This class will be using the book How to Read the Bible Book by Book: A Guided Tour by Gordon D. Fee & Douglas Stuart.
Christian Ethics – Taught by Pastor Paul Gard
Christians spend lots of time studying Scripture and theology but often forget about regular application thus lacking the tools to engage their faith in their own lives and those around them. We will be regularly asking: Ought we change the world? In this class we will be discussing how to apply our faith to various ‘hot button’ issues Christians deal with in America. Among the topics will be life from conception to death (i.e., fertility issues, abortion, health care, genetic engineering, euthanasia, etc), sexual ethics, divorce and remarriage, church-state relations and politics, economics, and just war theory. Our view of such topics will be filtered through the lens of Scripture. This class will be interactive and have various case studies for us to consider. This class will use the book Moral Choices: An Introduction to Ethics by Scott Rae.
Ephesians – Taught by Pastor Troy Turner
As one of Paul’s prison epistles the letter is vital to the life and unity of the church. The book opens with our new position in relation to God, addresses the mystery of the gospel, speaks to the right ordering of human relationships, and ends with an acknowledgment of spiritual warfare. All of this is tied together with Pauline prayers for the church. Please join us as we seek to understand and apply this wonderful book to our Christian walk. This class will be using the book Ephesians For You by Richard Coekin. These are available to purchase for $18.
